Developing food-safe, greaseproof backers took extensive time, testing, and research, and it’s not something that can be safely replicated on a home or even standard commercial printer. Using non–food-grade materials can pose real safety risks, which is why we always recommend using packaging specifically designed and tested for food use.

Customize Your Backers Your Way
While we offer a wide variety of backer sizes, we know that one standard size won’t fit every order. Our tall backers measure 9.5" x 2.625", which makes them perfect for stacked cookies or tall singles, but sometimes, that full length can feel like a little too much backer depending on your set.
If you’re packaging something like a 3-mini cookie set, you may not want a lot of extra backer showing above the cookies. The good news? You can easily customize tall backers at home to better fit your needs and still keep that professional look.
1. Trim Your Backer to Size
Use a simple paper cutter to trim your tall backer down to the length that best fits your cookie set. We personally love this Fiskars paper cutter for quick, straight cuts that stay consistent across batches.
2. Round the Corners for a Factory Finish
After trimming, use a corner rounder to recreate that polished, original look. We use a 3-in-1 corner rounder from Amazon, and the size that matches our tall backers is the R10mm corner. This small step makes a huge difference and helps your custom-sized backers look professionally finished.
3. Resize Your Bags to Match
Our clear heat-seal bags can be trimmed down to match the new length of your backers. You can cut the excess from the top for a clean edge, or leave a little extra room if you plan to decorate the top.
4. Add Tags and Finishing Touches
If you leave a bit of room at the top of your bag, you can add one of our matching tags and bows for an elevated presentation. Our clear elastics make this especially easy.
We offer thin elastics that attach tags cleanly and almost invisibly. Simply loop the elastic through the hole in the tag, wrap it around your bag, and finish it off with one of our pre-tied twist-tie bows for a truly elegant finish.

All of our cutters are made completely in-house, from the initial design all the way to printing. We 3D print each cutter using food-safe PLA, so you can feel confident knowing you’re getting the same quality and safety standards you expect from all of our Miss Cookie Packaging products.
